Canford used the recent Plasa Focus: Leeds event to line up Roland equipment with its established brands – including Tascam, Denon and EMO. The display came as a direct result of a new distribution agreement, which aims to bring Roland into the UK broadcast market.

The show provided the opportunity for Canford to present a selection of Roland products including the VC-30HD multi-input video converter and encoder, the VR-3, and A4 sized compact ‘all-in-one’ audio mixer and video switcher and two USB audio interfaces.

The Roland VC-30HD multi-input video converter and encoding device was on show, with the VR-3 audio mixer and video switcher, which is well suited to location or live work and webstreaming. The UA-55 Quad-Capture, meanwhile, is a USB audio interface for recording with a laptop or PC. It is powered from its USB connection to the computer and provides four inputs and four outs and features two combination XLR/jack inputs on the front panel. Two high-quality mic preamps with rotary gains, Midi and coax connections, headphone monitoring, 48V phantom power and a ‘ground lift’ switch are also provided.

The Roland UA-1010 (Octa-capture) is also a portable USB audio interface but provides ten inputs and outputs with eight VS preamps and offers 24-bit/192 kHz audio quality. The Octa-capture supports all major DAW platforms on Mac or PC, including OS-X 10.6 and Windows 7, through ASIO 2.0/WDM (Windows) and Core Audio (Mac) drivers.

These lined up with Denon’s range of professional CD players for broadcast playout and other professional applications, the latest developments from Tecpro (Canford’s own communications system), and Canford’s D’n’A (Digital and Analogue) cable range.

Canford also showed the new Telex BTR-240 wireless comms system, which it exclusively handles the UK. The BTR-240 system operates in the licence-free 2.4GHz frequency band and delivers full-duplex operation for up to eight beltpacks with an almost unlimited number of half-duplex beltpacks.
