Dalet and Signiant have announced the API integration of their flagship systems, allowing ‘optimised essence manipulation and media and metadata management across multi-site operations’.

A provider of intelligent file movement software for the media and entertainment industry, Signiant has mated its systems with Dalet’s media asset management (MAM) and news solutions. The collaboration has so far been proven at installations with leading sports, postproduction and broadcast organisations in the US, Canada and the Netherlands.

The Dalet/Signiant integration addresses a wide range of needs. In contribution workflows, content can be automatically imported into the system, saving time and resources. Transfers including conversion between formats with associated metadata can also be automated for site-to-site or multi-site delivery. In all cases, Signiant uses available bandwidth to accelerate the transfers and enhance workflows. Dalet Enterprise Edition creates a cross-system MAM with a centralised content catalogue that manages media, essence files and metadata across systems, storing and tracking contextual sets of associated multimedia along with metadata. Assets are readily searchable and accessible across the organisation using Dalet tools or other third-party broadcast or business systems.

‘The Dalet/Signiant partnership is a win-win for our customers, making multi-site collaboration and access to content seamless, whether it is through a centralised content catalogue or multiple independent databases that are communicating together,’ says Raoul Cospen, Director of Marketing at Dalet. ‘The Dalet workflow engine can seamlessly control the Signiant platform to trigger exchange workflows that move and copy video between multiple sites. It’s transparent for the users, and exchanges are faster and optimised. It’s the perfect combination of tools for multi-site management of news, sports, programme management and production or contribution workflows or consolidating a multi-site archive.’

Signiant’s enterprise-scale software integrates seamlessly with complex IT infrastructure to enable fast, efficient workflows and media-aware networks. Signiant’s Media Managers+Agents software provides powerful security, management and control of automated file exchanges between clients, speeding tasks such as the processing of raw content, adding metadata or formatting conversions for distribution in other countries. Signiant’s Media Exchange software offers distributed media organisations a powerful tool for desktop-to-desktop transfers.

‘We understand the complexity of what our customers are trying to accomplish and know that as files move around the world, they must originate from and arrive into a tightly integrated technology ecosystem,’ says Rick Clarkson, Vice President of Product Management at Signiant. ‘Our partnership with Dalet addresses this level of technical integration for customers, and it is a logical step in both companies’ ongoing strategies to deliver maximum end-to-end value in workflow automation.’
