German rental specialist company SLD (Sound Light Design) has recently taken a Uniline line array system from French manufacturer APG.

SLD's new Uniline systemBased in Wesel near Dusseldorf, the company has added a turnkey system – fully flightcased with standard racks and Lab.gruppen FP Series amplifiers – to its inventory.

Supplied by APG’s German distributor Audio Technica, the system comprises 12 UL210 full range mid/hi cabinets, six UL115B bass enclosures and four TB118S subwoofers managed by an APG DMS26 digital loudspeaker processor.

According to the owner of SLD, Rolf Feldmann, investing in Uniline was a logical step for the company: ‘We already have a number of APG speaker systems as part of our inventory,’ he says, ‘namely DX12, DX15 and SMX15 monitor systems and TB115S and TB118S subs. We are convinced by the quality and acoustic properties of these systems, so selecting Uniline as our main line array system was an easy decision for us.

‘Another reason was that you’re not just buying a bunch of loudspeakers with APG – you can do that anywhere – but in this case, you’re also buying into the Uniline Solution, which is a highly professional rental network where support, service and standard systems are guaranteed. That is something that is really important for us as a company because it will give us the opportunity to work on bigger international events.’

SLD works mainly on rock, pop, jazz, blues, big band and theatre productions as well as indoor and outdoor corporate events. ‘It’s a pretty varied selection, which is why Uniline is ideal for us – depending on how it is configured, it can handle events of all sizes from an intimate jazz concert to a major outdoor festival. It’s a valuable addition to our inventory, and working with APG has been a joy – they are like family now. The support we have received from them and Audio Technica has been exemplary.’
