One of the hottest young blues guitarists on the scene, British blues guitarist Oli Brown won the 2011 British Blues Award for Best Album – which saw veteran blues studio man Mike Vernon came out of retirement to produce.
It was during a recording session that Brown discovered Auralex’s Great GRAMMA – Gig and Recording, Amp and Monitor, Modulation Attenuator – isolation riser which he now uses at gigs to decouple his guitar amplifier from the stage. This gives Brown a clean signal for the front-of-house mix without the boom and swell associated with non-isolated instrument amplifiers.
‘Hearing is believing,’ he says. ‘The Great GRAMMA is amazing and it is now a main part of my stage set-up.’
The Great GRAMMA is an effective isolation device that is used to float an amp or loudspeaker, providing nearly total acoustic isolation between an instrument amp or monitor speaker and the stage. Brown took his custom-finished Great GRAMMA on the road with him for recent performances in the UK and Jakarta, and will be traveling with it in 2012 for shows lined up in the UK and France.
