According to the official figures, this year’s Pro Light & Sound Shanghai show welcomed a record number of 419 exhibitors and 18,522 visitors – an increase of 18 per cent in the total number of visitors over 2010. It included pavilions from Germany and Taiwan, as well as a special Parts and Accessories Zone.
The breakdown found 17,083 local visitors (23 per cent increase on 2010) and 1,439 overseas visitors (an eight per cent increase). Of the 85 countries and regions represented, the top 10 were (in order of attendance) China, Korea, Hong Kong, US, Japan, Taiwan, Russia, Brazil, Germany and Thailand.
The show runs concurrently with Music China, Asia’s largest international MI event, which showcased 1,419 exhibitors. Together the combined shows attracted more than 1,800 exhibitors.
Alongside various seminars and forums, the four-day event Concert Sound Arena offered live line array demos from Audiocenter (China), Duran Audio (Netherlands), KV2 Audio (UK), Peavey (US), Soundking (China) and TW Audio (Germany).

Commenting on the development of the Chinese market, Jakey Yang, Sales Manager for Soundking, China added: ‘We are very confident with where the industry in China as the Chinese government’s 12th Five-Year Plan actively promotes cultural development in China and this is creating rich business opportunities for us.’
