Tomorrow’s opening ceremony of the 26th Summer World University Games (Shenzhen Universiade) will lift the curtain on one of the biggest events in since the inception of the games.
Being the official audio sponsor of the opening ceremony, Sennheiser mics will be used in all venues, while the PA speaker systems in all major venues have been provided by K-array – for which Sennheiser is the exclusive agent.
Audio specialist teams from Sennheiser and K-array have provided on-site technical support since beginning of July, overseeing technical configuration and giving consultation during the live rehearsals.
Almost all Sennheiser’ mic models will be used, including the wired evolution series, 2000 series, 5000 series and MKH 8040. The loudspeaker systems will include 60 pairs of KR 200S speakers, 16 pairs of KR 400S, 30 pairs of KK 200, 30 pairs of KK 100, 16 pairs of KK 50 and KKS 50 models.
A total of 63 stadia will be engaged during this year’s Universiade, breaking the record for previous events. Among them, the fencing hall, the taekwondo hall and international chess hall will all use K-array KR 200S speakers.
This year’s Shenzhen Universiade will host 24 major and 306 minor events, setting a new record. Participation has also increased substantially, with more than 145 countries and regions participating.
More than 152 delegations comprising more than 12,000 people (of which 8,000 are athletes) will gather in Shenzhen. In addition, the Ministry of Education and the Organizing Committee of the Universiade will host the World University Presidents Forum, which will be attended by presidents from more than 128 local and overseas universities – another first, as is the International Youth Sports Reporter Training Camp.
It is understood that 323 media organisations from around the world will cover the event with a total of 3,121 reporters.
