Prism Sound is sponsoring the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association conference, CBA: Live in Nairobi, in Kenya. The conference is part of the Digital East Africa project and is being hosted by the CBA at the Kenya National Museum in Nairobi.

Running from 20-22 June, the event also finds Sadie’s Peter Nash and Peter Leslie Wild, two highly experienced BBC programme-makers, to speak and present at the event. They are presenting creative workshops in drama production, feature and documentary making for radio and podcasting.

Nash is MD of independent production company Monty Funk Productions, and has been a high-end features maker for BBC Radio 4 and Radio 3 since the mid 1990s. Recenbtly freelance, Wild was been a senior producer for BBC Radio Drama for 16 years, winning a number of awards. He is also well-known for large-scale theatre productions, his training workshops at British universities and is now involved in a variety of podcasting projects.

Both have worked together extensively for both BBC projects and theatre productions, and are specialists in producing drama-documentaries, having made at least 25 together, and between them many hundreds. They will be presenting together and separately at the conference, with sessions incorporating live actors, and will deconstruct their drama-documentary work in front of a live audience. They will also be part of the panel discussions to be recorded and will be producing a podcast of the event.

The Sadie editing system (manufactured by Prism Sound) is used by the BBC, Radio France and Radio New Zealand, and is found in many other major broadcasters around the world from the ABC in Australia to Deutches Welle, RUV in Iceland to RTHK in Hong Kong. ‘It’s about accuracy, speed and workflow, particularly in a ‘crafting’ environment like drama and documentaries,’ says Nash. ‘You need a system that is fast, completely reversible and allows many changes; this is what Sadie has done for me during my many BBC programme-making projects.”
