Broadcast specialist Calrec has made its first console placement in Ukraine.

A sale made to Engineer Service, a systems integrator based in the capital city, Kiev, was arranged at this year's NAB show in Las Vegas by Calrec's recently appointed Sales Executive for Northern and Eastern Europe, Michael Reddick, who joined the company in February this year.

Engineer Service's order is for a 32-fader Calrec Zeta console in a 40-fader frame, allowing the Ukrainian SI the option to expand the console to 40-fader operation at a later date. The desk is due to be installed in a new high-definition expanding OB vehicle which Engineer Service will contract to domestic broadcasters for outside broadcast events.

‘I'm very proud to have made my first Calrec sale to a new territory for the company,’ says Reddick. ‘Our trade projections for this year anticipated sales in Ukraine; it’s one of the territories in which we’ve recently identified a strong potential for growth. It's very satisfying to be off to a flying start.’

‘We were looking for a console for our new HD vehicle, and Calrec was recommended to us by one of our British partners,’ Ivan Sorokin, Head of Sales at Engineer Service, says. ‘We act as distributor for a number of broadcast technology companies in Ukraine. We spoke to Calrec at IBC and were impressed by their experience and product range, then concluded the sale with Michael at NAB this year. We are excited to be the first importers of Calrec's products into Ukraine, and look forward to working with the company again in the future.’

Engineer Service took delivery of the Zeta desk in mid-May, in time for Ukraine's 2011 International TV and Radio Fair, which ran from 34-26 May at the Acco International Exhibition Centre in Kiev. Installation of the desk in the new HD vehicle is scheduled to begin directly after the show, with the truck entering service in September 2011.
