Broadcast Communications International (BCI) have supplied a number of ARX Systems’ MSX 32 Active Microphone/Line Splitters to the recently opened Mediacorp Campus in Singapore.

MediaCorp Senior Manager Lee Mun TongThe Mediacorp Campus is an 800,000sq-ft architectural landmark within the first digital media hub in Singapore – Mediapolis@one-north. Twenty-six RX MSX 32s provide audio signal distribution to a number of Lawo mc series mixing desks, including five mc²56 audio production consoles and an mc²36 audio console, that are used throughout the television studio complex at the heart of the Mediacorp Campus. The MSX 32s are connected to ARX PSU 32 Backup/Redundant power supply units in order to ensure continuous power and uninterrupted operation.

The aim of the centre is to encourage public engagement with production/broadcast work with guided tours that allow visitors to see Mediacorp in action and have a go in front of the camera. The impressive technical infrastructure of the Campus also boasts a state-of-the-art 1,500-seat theatre with state-of-the-art acoustics and the largest outdoor TV digital screen in Singapore.

Optimised for live sound, recording and broadcast applications where microphone and balanced line level input signals need to go to multiple mix locations, the MSX 32 features eight channels of actively buffered, low-noise mic/line splits, each with two transformer-balanced splits on the front and two electronically balanced outputs on the rear panel (Main and Monitor) which can be optionally transformer balanced. Each channel has a –20dB pad switch, silently switchable 48V phantom power, individual gain control and a PFL switch while six LED metering enables each channel to be checked with headphones. The PFL buses of multiple MSX32 units can be linked by connectors on the rear panel – a Link switch connects each channel to the previous one, allowing a maximum of 32 outputs from a single input. Each channel also has a rear panel switch hard-linking the input to the main output.

The PSU 32 Backup/Redundant power supply unit features individual +V, -V and 48V DC rail LED indicators, which show when the PSU 32 is connected to the MSX 32. An illuminated power switch on the front panel provides visual confirmation of AC power connection to the unit. Six XLR-type 5-pin connectors on the rear panel enable a PSU32 to provide automatically switched backup power to up to six MSX 32 units.

BCI represents ARX products in the broadcast sector in Singapore, specialising in the supply, consultation, design and installation of broadcast solutions, acting as distributor and systems integrator in this market.
