Polish Manufacturer Bettermaker has announced the 542 Remote and 502P Remote Plug-in controlled 500-series EQ modules. Both units are intended for mixing and mastering, offering the same EQ found in the EQ232P, and are controlled only via a dedicated VST, AU, RTAS and AAX plug-in for session recall and automation from within a DAW.

Featuring the same circuitry as the company’s EQ542 and EQ502P, both modules are true analogue stereo EQs, with the 502P Remote being inspired by Pultec designs. The 542 Remote is a transparent four-band parametric EQ with 24dB/oct high-pass and a 12dB/oct low-pass filters. Both feature a minimal front panel, with only a USB socket to connect to a computer set-up. The digital and analogue sections are separated by steel screen isolators ensuring no crossover between both sections.

The 542 is a four-band EQ with selectable high- and low-pass filters, and two parametric mid bands. The high-pass filter uses a 24dB/octave filter with selectable frequency while the low-pass filter is a 12dB/octave again with selectable frequencies. The parametric bands cover frequencies between 45Hz to 15kHz, with an overlap between 650Hz and 1kHz. The bandwidth is digitally controlled and covers a range between fifth octave at its minimal position to three octaves.

The EQ502P plug-in controls are the same as those found on the EQ502P, with low shelf frequencies covering 20Hz, 30Hz 60Hz and 100Hz as on original Pultec designs, as well as high shelf frequencies covering 3kHz, 4kHz, 5kHz, 6kHz, 10kHz, 12kHz and 16kHz. A high-cut filter is also provided, with cut-off frequencies at 5kHz, 10kHz and 20kHz, with a 6dB slope. The unit has a frequency response of 5Hz-100kHz (-0.5dB), dynamic range greater than 106dB and a S/N ratio of more than 104dB.
