Swiss manufacturer Voice Technologies has released the VT500 Water miniature mic range.

Aimed at theatre, location and studio broadcast work, the mics have passed the IPX7 test, which requires full emersion to a depth of 1m for 30 minutes. Because of their construction, the VT range features highly-water-resistant capsules sealed in single piece stamped mouldings. This technique of manufacture also ensures the cable to the capsules is exceptionally strongly fixed.

Many of the mics in the VT range have been tested in extreme conditions such as white water rafting, yachting and waterskiing but the VT500 Water is the first of the range to receive full IPX7 ratification. Other microphones in their range are expected to follow soon.

The VT range is exclusively available from Canford in the UK and comprises high-end broadcast specification miniature lavalier microphones, head-worn microphones, miniature headsets and ear-pieces.
