Merging Technologies used IBC to rlease the Vcube 3, the latest version of its multi-purpose video player/recorder.

With the option of full support for Dolby E decoding and playback, Sony 9-pin (P2 Protocol) over IP and a completely re-written user manual, VCube is widely used in sound-for-picture in film and television facilities, with V3 ready to extend its versatility and speed. Among the updates, VCube 3 is now able to decode and playback Dolby streams transparently – a 48kHz stereo pair containing a Dolby E stream is placed on a VCube track and the tracks to be decoded selected from a drop-down menu. No plug-in allocation is required.

VCube 3 also offers synchronisation with Merging’s Pyramix via Sony 9-pin over IP. No set-up is required in the Vcube.

VCube supports all SD and HD formats in NTSC, PAL and High Definition. The system can stream media files, OMF, AAF and FCP-XML compositions directly from a media server, bypassing the rendering stage for audio postproduction. Complex multi-layer compositions – including different media types – can be displayed in real-time. VCube can also ‘wrap’ a final mix audio into a new MXF, AVI or QuickTime file for delivery without decoding the original video.

The family of VCube player-only and player/recorder models is designed to meet the needs of a wide range of applications including audio postproduction, film dubbing, ADR/Foley, theaters, theme parks, video ingest and a multitude of other audio/video and video only applications, either as a standalone system, or as part of a multi-system network.
