The Xantech MX88 is an IP-enabled multi-zone audio/video controller, engineered for iPad control, along with Xantech keypad and Xantech SmartPanel LCD touchscreen control.

Xantech MX88‘Xantech wanted to bring our unique benefits of open architecture and simplicity to the most advanced multi-zone A/V platform possible,’ says Xantech President Graham Hallett. ‘The MX88 is superior when it comes to talking and listening to other products and unusually high level of onboard intelligence.’

The MX88 allows control of an entire Xantech multi-zone audio/video system using one or multiple Apple iPads.

An integrated audio/video distribution and control system, the network-ready unit combines a 50W x 16-channel/eight-zone digital amplifier and auto-sensing universal power supply with advanced automation control features capable of up to 16-Serial ports (with the use of Xantech RS232 1x8 serial routers) and 17 selectable IR ports, as well as IP communication and two-way interface with an iPad, or most other web-enabled tablets and PCs.

Xantech’s iPad integration approach uses an existing WiFi network to interface the MX-series controller to the iPad (or any networked web-browsing device), serving up a web application embedded in the MX88’s architecture. System control and status monitoring can all be accessed within a wired or wireless immediate LAN environment, or remotely over the Internet. Full metadata, menu navigation and even content graphics and album art are all transmitted from media source to the iPad through the Xantech audio/video controller itself. The MX88 is perfect for residential or commercial multi-zone A/V and control applications.

The MX88 system can be expanded to 16 zones by using two MX88 controllers, and each zone can accommodate one sub-zone and four controllers.

The unit is built around an intelligent and highly-efficient ‘green’ power supply with 100V-240V automatic voltage selection and advanced low-power consumption mode. Onboard Intelligent Power Management circuitry provides positive external device control (through video and current sensing) over all eight source input components connected to the unit, enabling the MX controller to manage the status of any of them – turning them off when not needed, for example.
